Belmont Stakes 2017
May 20, 2017
Bet on the Belmont Stakes in Elmont, New York on June 10th at USA Sportsbook. Cloud Computing could face Always Dreaming and Classic Empire in the final jewel of the Triple Crown in what is known as the true test of a champion.
Always Dreaming had a perfect trip in the Kentucky Derby at Churchill Downs and came away with a decisive victory. Trainer Todd Pletcher did a great job having his horse ready and they drew up and executed the perfect trip for the race.
Cloud Computing who is trained by Chad Brown shocked us all by winning the Preakness Stakes at Pimlico. Cloud Computing was eligible to run in the Kentucky Derby but trainer Chad Brown opted not to run his horse in the Kentucky Derby and focused on the Preakness Stakes which turned out to be a brilliant decision.
Classic Empire continues to struggle despite having all the talent in the world, far more talent than Always Dreaming and Cloud Computing but he just can't seem to pull it all together and put it down at the track for a race. I blame his jockey Julien Leparoux for costing him the Preakness Stakes, either Leparoux went too early on his break or he let up too early to coast in down the stretch thinking he had a bigger lead and less pressure from behind than he did.
It's been a very strange Triple Crown season, while very exciting and everything we love about horse racing it's just missing something. For me it's having Bob Baffert and his horses in the races! It's just not the same when we don't have Bob Baffert in the mix and he likely had a Triple Crown contender earlier in the year before Mastery was injured.
Let's hope that Cloud Computing, Always Dreaming and Classic Empire all run in the Belmont Stakes as it will make the Belmont Stakes betting odds that much more interesting and draw out bigger prices for handicappers and horse bettors alike. And let's also hope Bob Baffert can get a horse ready because and entire Triple Crown of horse racing without Bob Baffert just isn't the same.
